Plastic Free Beauty

Being plastic free is a difficult journey. These days it seems like everything is made from some sort of plastic. Trying to be on the hunt for plastic free items can be a challenge and sometimes we fall short. One of the things that I struggle with most when trying to minimize my plastic usage is when I buy beauty products. Almost all beauty products come in a plastic container and the only solutions are DIY's which can become expensive and time consuming. Luckily, I found this amazing brand that makes local plastic free beauty products that are not only good for you, but also good for the planet.

I've been lucky enough to collab with the company Lumi Basics who's founders, Rachel and Brittani are extremely passionate about making clean products for you and the earth. They are based out of Charleston, SC and make all of their products out of organic and all natural ingredients.

My two favorite products so far are the coffee scrub and the dry shampoo. What's great about the coffee scrub is that you can actually smell and see the coffee grounds. There aren't any actual harsh chemicals or smells that will irritate your skin. For someone like me with extremely sensitive skin, it's great to know that I can actually see the ingredients that are being used in my product and are also helping my skin in a natural way. The other product I absolutely love is their dry shampoo. It comes in two different shades, light-medium and medium-dark so it blends right in with your hair color and doesn't end up looking like you have white powder on top of your hair. Another thing I absolutely love is that it doesn't come in an aerosol can and you actually get so much product for your money. When I buy dry shampoo my biggest issue is that it runs out so fast and barely has any actual product in the container. But this dry shampoo is different. Like all of their products, it comes in a glass bottle which allows for the most product and you can use the bottle all over again when the product is gone.

If you think about how many people waste plastic bottles on beauty products that don't even give you enough product for your money's worth, it becomes a little ridiculous.
